An Evening of Song with Ahmad Kaabour

With an experience of over 30 years in theatre and singing, Kaabour reflects on humanitarian and national issues. From the Palestinian anguish to the Lebanese people's resistance against the occupation, Kaabour searches for human values and love outside an ideological frame work. His music is based on traditional principles, yet contains elements of renewal and innovation.

Minimum age: eight The Italian migrant's orchestra brings its instruments and personal background of popular music to present a multicultural version of Mozart's The Magic Flute, a story of a lost prince on a quest to win love in a magical realm. From a Cuban trumpeter to Tunisian vocalists, an American violinist to Senegalese drummers, the 20-nation orchestra blends musical styles from reggae to jazz creating a modern version of this opera classic.

New Vision: Arab Contemporary Art in the 21st Century - Salwa Mikdadi

Salwa Mikdadi explores how new trends in Arab art are redefining activism and social responsibility.

Mikdadi is an art historian and curator whose work spans over twenty five years of Arab art and museums. She is the author and editor of several books and essays on Arab art and was the curator of the first Palestinian Pavilion for 2009 Venice Biennial.

Famed as "The Artist of Arabs" Mohammed Abdo is a landmark in the Arab and the Saudi music industry. Spending most of his childhood at an orphanage, he was noticed for his talent at the tender age of 12 when he sang on a radio programme. A highly esteemed singer and composer, he has released more than 30 albums; among the best are: Al Amaken, Al Hawa Al Ghayeb, Shabeeh El Rih, Habibati, Al Borwaz, Majmouat Insan and Wahdak.
