Thursday (April 15) Al Riwaq Art Space in Adliya will host a art programme for students, teachers and trainees. It runs until April 22 and will include animation and origami workshops and several activities such as film screenings, trainings and visits to schools and associations.

The programme includes a seminar titled 'Animate it in the MENA region: Telling stories with words, pictures, movement and sound' and a cartoon animation led by Erling Ericcson, an animator and TV producer who has been working with children for more than 20 years. An origami workshop led by Egyptian Ossama Helmy will be held from Tuesday to April 22 and divided into different sessions for children and adults. Prerana Bahrain will screen a film, Camera Buff, at 8pm at the Kannada Sangha in Manama. It is a 1979 Polish film written and directed by Krzysztof Kie_lowski about a humble factory worker whose newfound hobby, amateur film, becomes an obsession and transforms his modest and formerly contented life. Kasaragod Utsav 2010 will be held at the Delmon International Hotel's poolside in Manama from 7.30pm. The event will mark the first anniversary of the Kasaragod District Pravasi Association Bahrain (KDPA) and will showcase a cultural extravagansa. Visiting Indian literary figure Dr Ambikasudhan Mangad will be guest of honour. The Courtyard, an art gallery in Hamala, will open a solo exhibition by Bahraini artist Sayed Hassan Al Saari at 11am. It will run until April 29 and feature a collection of 25 oil and acrylic works on canvas and media paper. Hassan has also exhibited in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Syria. Al Riwaq Art Space will host a silent auction until April 27 to benefit the Bahrain Cancer Society at 7 pm. Visitors will be able to bid and buy recycled contemporary design pieces along with paintings, sculptures and various items donated by a selected group of artists. It following a 10-day workshop for a selected group of local, regional and international artists by Maha Al Sahaf, curator at Al Riwaq Art Space.

The second annual International Bahrain Boat Show will feature vessels worth more than BD100 million at Amwaj Marina.
