Dear Stan, I AM appealing on behalf of the family of my 26-year-old nephew, Rashid Masood, who was killed in a tragic road accident on January 5.

The young man was the only bread winner for his family of five and was born in Patna, India, and raised in a very humble environment.

Determined to help his family move away from poverty and to build a better life for his loved ones, Rashid grew up to be a hardworking student. He graduated with a business degree from the renowned Indian university of Jamia Millia Islamia and later joined telecom giant Airtel where he worked for two-and-a-half years.

To further enhance his professional career, he enrolled for a two-year master's degree in Business Administration at the J K Business School and took an educational loan of BD3,975 to help cover its costs.

He was close to achieving his dreams during his third semester when he received an employment offer with Fadex International in Bahrain and was due the company after he completed his course.

All those dreams were shattered on the fateful day of his accident and now his education loan has become a huge liability for his father.

We ask readers to pray for his departed soul and would appreciate any support they can give to the family at this time. Please call me on 38317005 or write to firchand_haque@yahoo.com for further information.

Dear Stan, I HAVE been on holiday but was thrilled to see last week's GulfWeekly on my return. Many thanks for the wonderful article on Page 1 by Anasuya Kesavan - we are really pleased and have GulfWeekly's littered around the studio!

We are also really hopeful that lots of Paintathon-ers have read it too!

We are so inspired by Maria Stasi who will be running the London Marathon on April 25 for children suffering from cancer and hope our event will help to cheer up the children's hospital wards in Bahrain with colourful tiles. Thank you for your support.

Sophie Smith,

Manager,

Editor's note: The paintathon ended yesterday and we will feature a selection of pictures from the event in next week's Social Scene.
