I love my Dodge Charger. It's meaty, magnificent and hammers along happily on the highway.

You can't be bullied or pushed about in one of these cars because they mean business, have a nice turn of speed and are big and bouncy, just like me.

Some people look like their pets, I prefer to play the car game. I've been writing motoring reviews now for more than 25 years and I've become pretty much an expert at playing the game of 'guess whose car' - very childish, but incredibly good fun.

Expat mums outside St Christopher's School = BMW X5, newcomer to Bahrain = Toyota Echo (on hire for a month), Lincoln Navigator = weekend visitor from Saudi Arabia) ... it's too easy in Bahrain.

When I look in the mirror I'm a Dodge Charger, wanna be a McLaren, should have been a Bentley. The reason I'm a Dodge is because there's nothing like it for the price. In fact, Behbehani Brothers, the authorised dealers, are selling my entry version for less than its cost more than three years ago!

I've got to know the salesmen and the service crew well enough to call them friends and it gives me pleasure to say the customer care continues to be of the highest order.

All the Dodge Charger delights are currently under special offer including the big brother of them all - the SRT bruiser with a 5.7 Hemi V8 engine, which you normally see with a police insignia zipping past you in your side-mirror probably chasing after the naughty Navigator speeding to the Causeway.

To tempt me to greater things, the boss of the Sitra showroom offered me the delights of sampling a sleek silver 2010 Charger SXT boasting soft leather seats to slide into.

It features a 3.5L V6 high output 24-valve MPI engine and four speed automatic transmission. I particularly liked the subtle lights around the cup holders and door pockets which glowed at night.

To ensure I wasn't too biased in my report I checked a few websites and most give it a rock steady showing. "Vast passenger room, available all-wheel drive, and solid construction make Charger a reasonable choice among large sedans," said one.

It's a muscle motor, performance car and sedan rolled into one.

As I thought, a no nonsense and absolute value for money motor, particularly with the present deal. Prices range from BD7,495 to BD12,995. Call 17459955 for more details.
