As the players recover from the drama, trauma and excitement of the final matches of the GulfWeekly Premiership League season a new knock-out contest has kicked off.

The expat football fanatics are playing for a cup and plate prize in a play-off format at the British School of Bahrain in Hamala every Monday night between the top four sides and the league's bottom four.

Two games were staged on Monday night at the school when league champions Wahooo! played fourth place Saar Eagles and third place AXA Rugby Club battled against runners-up, the Dilmun Club.

The winners will play against each other in a grand final in two weeks' time.

Next Monday the bottom four will play in the plate semi-finals.

A league presentation night ceremony will be held at the Dilmun Club on June 3 in which the winners will be presented with their trophies. Results and fixtures will be featured in GulfWeekly.

The GulfWeekly Premiership Trophy will be handed over to Wahooo! captain Tim Gillet on the night after his side won 9-0 against AC Jurassics taking the title by goal difference.

The Dilly boys let the title slip through their fingers by being held to a 1-1 draw by the league's basement side, the British School of Bahrain, in their final league fixture.
