WHAT am I going to do now the World Cup is coming up? My husband will be spending the next month glued to the box and talking about little else.

I hate football and think a restaurant or hotel in Bahrain would make a fortune by putting together a 'soccer free' environment with a special 'red card' menu for bored wives.

Now that's one club I would join!

Frustrated, Saar.

I READ with interest your report about Thailand (Travel Weekly - May 26-June 1) and thoroughly enjoyed the Thai cuisine and cultural festival at the Moevenpick Hotel - super food and fabulous entertainment.

I wish the country every success and hope its people can settle their differences. It is certainly a country I would consider visiting with my family in the near future.

Jonas, Manama.

CONGRALUTIONS to Seef Mall for staging the recent series of fashion shows.

My children really enjoyed watching the models and spotting Krazy Kev. It made our shopping trip and I hope we'll see more of the same soon.

Bletchley family,

Tubli.

I AM writing to you on behalf of the Welsh Society of Bahrain.

We are planning the last event of the season and are hoping that you would be kind enough to once again support us by publicising our Quiz and World Cup Night on June 18 to be held at the Dilmun Club's Candles Restaurant. Doors open 7pm with welcome drinks and finger food.

The two-hour fun quiz starts at 7.30pm and fish & chips/ curry & rice are included in the price.

Tickets cost BD6 for members and BD7 for non-members. A large projection screen will be on to show the World Cup at 9.30pm. Contact bahrainwelsh2003@yahoo.co.uk for more details. Louise Witter, by email.
