Aisha Sadiq Falamarzi - Muharraq Girls School

AISHA is a team player who is excited about learning and doing new things. She lists her cumulative GPA of 99.2 and being invited as a member of Muharraq School annual conference and meeting His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa among her biggest achievements.

From Muharraq, Aisha, 18, has been accepted at Stowe College in Buckingham, UK, to take her A'levels and hopes to train as a medical doctor.

She attributes her strength and ambition to her mother Amina Daije Slais who works at the Central Bank of Bahrain, and her father Sadiq Ali Falamarzi, who works at the Ministry of Interior. Aisha has two brothers Ali and Daije.

Ameena Ali Hassan Isa Alderazi - Omaima bint Al Numan Girls School

Dreaming of following her grandfather's footsteps as a successful businessman, Ameena, 18, from Saar, hopes to make a positive difference in the development of her country.

A keen orator and toastmaster, Ameena played an important role in helping her team succeed in the School Stock Exchange challenge 2008/2009. She has also in her spare time completed French language courses, attended Taekwondo classes and participated in Model United Nations.

With 'work hard, be focussed and have faith in yourself' as her guiding philosophy, Ameena will join Shrewsbury School in the UK to complete her A'levels and then hopes to study Business Management at Kings College in London.

Ameena's father Ali Hassan Alderazi is a banker and mother Layla Hilal Rashed is a teacher. Her brothers Hassan, 16, and Ahmed, 15, are students of Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School.

Wael A Ameer Al Jishi - Bahrain Bayan School

Heading to the Imperial College of London, Wael, 18, plans to get a degree in Computer Science and improve his skills in programming for the benefit of Bahrain.

With varied interests in basketball, badminton, computer programming and Nitro cars, he advises students to work hard, study hard and play hard.

Wael's father, A Ameer is an aircraft engineer with Gulf Air and mother Mona is an educational specialist at the Ministry of Education. He lives in Jerdab with his two younger brothers Basel and Ali.

Sawsan Farouk Khalaf - The British School, UAE

A SPARKLING personality who describes herself as an optimist and risk-taker, Sawsan, hopes to earn a degree in International Development and Urban Systems at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, learn Portuguese and German, move to Rio de Janeiro and gain work experience before returning to Bahrain to contribute to its urban planning.

An amateur poet and photography enthusiast, who loves travelling, languages, music and writing, Sawsan, 18, dreams of designing pedestrian friendly tree-lined streets, parks and quality low-income housing, a much-needed public transport system and create leisure areas for young people other than shopping malls.

Sawsan is completing her schooling in Abu Dhabi. Her father, Farouk Khalaf, is a banker with National Bank of Bahrain and mother, Laleh Ali Hassan, is an interior designer.

Her brother Salman, 20, is studying marketing at Middlesex University, London and Talal , 26, is studying management at NYIT, Abu Dhabi..

Mohammed Juma'a Ali Yusuf Al-Ghanami - Ahmed Al Omran Boys School

Academic excellence, willpower and determination are Mohammed's secret to success. After completing his High School Postgraduate Diploma from Choate Rosemary Hall, US, he plans to study economics as he thinks it can empower him with the knowledge and insight to understand developments in business, society and the country's economy.

Advising the next generation of aspiring students to focus on their studies and work hard, Mohammed, 18, said: "Opportunities are always out there but you have to look for them, seize them, and make the best out of them. Nothing is impossible."

His father Juma'a Ali Al-Ghanami is a retired medical officer and mother Batool S Mohsen Al-Mosawi is a housewife. He lives in Bilad Al-Qadeem with his brothers and sisters, Najat, 40, Fathi, 39, Shawqi, 37, Najla, 32, Eman, 27, Ali, 24, and Hussam, 10.

Yusuf Khaled Abdulwahab - Al Hedaya Al Khalifiya Boys School

Aspiring environmentalist Yusuf believes his communication abilities, team-working and leadership skills are his winning attributes.

Yusuf, 17, hopes to earn a PhD in engineering or architecture and project management in the UK on completing his A' levels at Malvern College in Worcestershire.

A recipient of the 'Award of Academic excellence for the Arabic Gulf Countries' and having represented Bahrain in several regional and international environmental and science conferences and programmes, Yusuf considers winning a battle against obesity as an equally important achievement on the physical level.

Son of Khaled Abdulrahman Abdulwahab and Wafa Ahmed Al-Mahmeed from Busaiteen, he said: "Students have to realise that they are the true fortune of their country and that their country needs them as much as they need their country. Their hard-work and perseverance is what makes today's dream tomorrow's reality."

His brother Abdulrahman, 19, is a student of computer engineering at the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals and sisters Sara, 12 and Amina, 10 are students of Al-Eman School.

Elham Abbas Ali Yusuf Ali - Al Aahd Al Zaher Girls School

A budding diplomat who embraces change and takes prides in her ability to adapt to various cultures and situations, Elham aspires to work for peace between races and religions.

A violinist, she performed as the first violinist for The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony and Menomonie High School Orchestra in Wisconsin, US, where she was on the YES High School Exchange Programme and also won an award for outstanding athletic performance and exceptional sportsmanship at ice-hockey. She is also the first Bahraini student to obtain Kumon's Higher Level Student's Award for Maths and English for Europe and the Middle East.

In September, Elham, 17, from Hamad Town, will begin a high school postgraduate diploma at the US Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut and then plans to major in International Relations and Political Science at University.

In her advice to CPISP aspirants, she said: "Explore life, make mistakes and become the person you want to be and remember to live life today."

Among her best gifts she counts the encouragement and moral support given by her father, Abbas Ali Yusuf Ali, a computer and information system manager at Gulf International Bank and mother, Fatima Cabuatan Yusuf Ali, a housewife.

Elham's sister Ahlam, 23, is completing her MBA at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, and brother Ali, 19, is an undergraduate student at Murray State University, Kentucky, US.

Mariam Mohamed Maki - Ibn Khuldoon National School

An avid reader and budding short story writer, Mariam is interested in journalism and debate. She plans to study environmental economics with a focus on sustainable development.

In September Mariam, 18, from Hamad Town, will begin undergraduate studies at US Columbia University in New York. She believes that while it is important to work hard for your grades, it is of equal importance to pursue your passion and to take time off for yourself.

Her mother, Elham Hassan, is country senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and father, Mohamed Maki, is a physiotherapist. Both her sisters Dana, 22, a physiotherapist working in London, and Rawan, 19, an economics and civil engineering student at Yale University, US, are Crown Prince Scholars.

Mariam attributes the girls' success to her parents' rigorous work ethic and value for education. She said: "They taught me from a very young age that it is the key to survival and success in today's world. They're also very supportive and have always encouraged me to speak my mind, be independent, and make my own decisions - something that has shaped my personality tremendously."

Mohamed Mahdi Alzayer - Naim Boys School

Passionate about numbers and a dream of developing Bahrain's financial sector, 17-year-old Mohamed is taking his first step as tomorrow's leader by joining the Oundle School in the UK to complete his A' levels.

Inspired by his banker father, Mahdi Hasan Alzayer, and a confidence in his analytical abilities, Mohamed hopes to gain expertise in risk management in some of the best universities abroad.

As well as playing tennis and strumming his guitar in his spare time, Mohamed took first place in the Khawla and Alhedaya maths competitions and a first place in the Al-Falah translating contest.

He lives in Al Maqsha with his mother Ahlam Hasan Ayad, brothers Ali and Mahmood and sisters Hanan and Mariam

Ayman Tariq Saeed - St Christopher's School

Striking a balance between academic and extra-curricular activities; and making the most of all opportunities are winning facets of CPISP scholar and school head boy, Ayman's personality.

Accepted at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, which is part of Queen Mary, University of London, Ayman, 18, from A'ali, hopes to research and study disorders such as Sickle Cell Disease which is highly prevalent in the region.

He has taken part in Model United Nations in Hague and Washington DC, achieved the Duke of Edinburgh's Silver Award and is also a keen footballer and vice-captain of his school's golf team.

Ayman believes the secret to developing an all-rounded personality is by 'giving your all' to everything you do and said that nothing is a waste of time as long as you use the experience wisely.

He comes from a family of doctors with his father Tariq, a plastic surgeon, mother, June, a hospital director, and sister Nina, 20, a medical student at RCSI in Dublin, Ireland. He also has a younger sister Dana, 15, who attends St. Christopher's School.
