The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel in Manama is enticing guests with scrumptious Iftar treats amidst panoramic views of the kingdom's skyline ... and who better to serve it up than a Bahraini chef called Ramadan!
Managing the Ramadan kitchen is Bahraini Sous Chef Younis Ramadan who has been with the hotel for seven years. For the past three years he and his team of 15 chefs have been preparing Iftar feasts for the island's food lovers.
Chef Ramadan from Muharraq said: "I often come across friendly teasing from people - friends jokingly say 'Oh, it's your father's month'.
"It is a beautiful name which was quite popular particularly in the olden days - my father, grandfather and great grandfather had it."
He studied at the Baisan Institute of Hospitality Management and now boasts 12 years of culinary experience. He has also undergone training in Lebanon and China.
Situated on the 14th floor, the hotel's Al Fanar rooftop venue offers a vast selection of Ramadan favourites - a mouthwatering combination of fresh ingredients and traditional recipes.
The Iftar buffet costs BD14 and offers a selection of dates, juices, hot and cold mezzeh, with a choice of more than 30 different salads, home-baked breads, shawarma and falafel.
Added to this is a wide variety of hot dishes including Arabic Ouzi, Thareed, Harees and an array of more than 30 Arabic sweets such as Um Ali, Kunafa and Mahalabiya. The spread also includes an assortment of European desserts and exotic fruits.
To bring in the true essence of Ramadan the hotel also provides entertainment for the family with local music and board games.
For Ramadan the hotel's Kontiki Restaurant is also open offering popular Asian and continental dishes.
