The Karavali Konkans Association-Bahrain will host the 'Gulf Voice of Mangalore' Konkani singing competition at The Palace Hotel's Falcon Auditorium in Adliya on September 30 at 8pm. The Young Goans Club (YGC) will hold the annual Bandra Fair, O 2 B N Bandra! from September 17 from 12pm at the Delmon International Hotel's poolside, Manama.

The fair will feature a number of stalls serving traditional Goan dishes and sweets, a children's fashion show, a dancing competition for groups of four to six people, an individual dancing competition for children up to 14 years and a jive contest for people of all ages. A local DJ will also provide music throughout the event and prizes will be awarded to winners of competitions. Entry is free to members and sponsors.

The Batelco Melodic Meet will be held on September 24 at the Indian School grounds in Isa Town. Organised by the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) in association with the Kerala Arts and Cultural Association (KACA), the event will feature performances by vocalists Mohammad Aslam, Faride and Sindhu Menon, mimicry specialists Baiju Jose and Babu Jose and film star Monica from India. Tickets cost BD1 and can be doubles up for raffle tickets to win a Mitsubishi Lancer and 20 other prizes.

Albareh Art Gallery will present the latest works in an exhibition titled 'Painting Illusion' of Egyptian artist Hazem Taha at the CafŽ from September 26 to October 16.

The Filipino Club Bahrain will host an international hip hop competition for dancers above 18 years of age. Winners will be awarded cash prizes and a trophy. It will take place at different venues. On October 2, 9, 16 and 23 the competition will be held at Enigma and Lambada from 7pm to 9pm, on October 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Euphoria, on October 4, 11, 18 and 25 at Twister and F1 Club and on October 5, 12, 19 and 26 at Bedrock and Tempo Club. Entry is BD3 plus one free drink.

The Indian Ladies Association's (ILA) will host the Megamart Dandiya Dhamaka on October 7 at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain's Conference Centre in Manama from 8pm.

It will feature a performance by Dandiya DJ Yogi. The dandiya tradition hails from Gujarat, India, where groups of dancers of all ages form large circles to participate in the dance that is embellished with lively music, colourful jackets and skirts and is performed with decorated wooden sticks. Bahrain-based Aapka Paresh and RadioVoice RJ Just Juhi will be the event's masters of ceremony.
