AS for men, three overarching themes have emerged, namely Uni-Form, Rustic Rebirth and Night Watch.

Uni-Form dressing celebrates the familiarity of traditional masculine roles. From rugged worker shirts to functional military jackets, and from classic Ivy League sweaters to retro 1960s white-collar suiting, these uniforms are presented in a monochromatic palette of greys, camels, nautical navys and reds.

Rustic Rebirth is influenced by an appreciation for all things artisanal with a focus on quiet luxury. Plaids, Fair Isles and folkloric patterns are executed in autumnal colours with loden green and burgundy as the most important hues. There's an emphasis on craftsmanship and heritage with a nod to the rustic outdoors.

Night Watch is where Gothic influence meets futuristic inspiration, with deep, saturated jewel tones paired to endless shades of black and grey. The interplay of matte and shine predominates, as techno and burnished fabrications are balanced with plush velvets and classic wool suiting.

A Saks Fifth Avenue spokesman said: "The season's key items are all available from a collection of the world's best menswear designers. So whether you want to give a nod to the past with a military inspired pea coat or look forward with a washed leather moto jacket, Saks has you covered."

For Autumn 2010, Saks Fifth Avenue loves these must-haves:

Shawl Collar Sweaters and Jackets

Cropped Pea Coats

Soft Jersey Knit Blazers

Leather Moto Jackets

Fair Isle Knits

Denim and Chambray Worker Shirts

Hiking & Worker Boots
