THE launch of the new Volkswagen Touareg has created 'unprecidented demand'at the Bahrain dealership.

The state-of-the-art 4x4 was unveiled in a glitzy ceremony at the Behbehani Bros Volkswagen showroom in Sitra last week and, since then, the showroom has been inundated with requests from customers who want to book a test drive.

Volkswagen Bahrain marketing executive Nariman Ahmed said: "We are continuously receiving requests for test drives. Many people have been very interested in the Touareg.

"A steady growth has been witnessed in the market share of this model in Bahrain in the past, and we are extremely confident that the new Touareg will soon be every household's favourite vehicle."

The new Touareg is Volkswagen's flagship petrol engine sport utility vehicle. It unites the world of off-road vehicles with the comfortable dimensions of a luxury sedan and the dynamic attributes of a sports car.

World first innovations onboard include bi-xenon headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, and a standard 8-speed automatic transmission - the first of its kind in the world in the SUV segment. The plethora of new innovations also include a pushbutton parking brake, automatic Stop-Start engine shut-off system, electronic oil level display, panoramic sunroof - the largest-ever used on an SUV, multi- camera operated Area View safety system, Lane and Side Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control plus Front Assist, automatic tailgate, and proactive occupant protection.
