I AM a fan of Krazy Kevin who is neither a school-age kid nor their parent (GulfWeekly October 6). I am just a regular listener of his show between 5pm-6pm.

After a hard day's work, on my way home in the long traffic jams, it is his show on Radio Bahrain which helps me to stay wide awake at the wheel.

He hosts it in his own humorous way and there is never a dull moment. I always enjoy it and laugh out loud whenever he brings David Bloomer on air with all those introductions he gives him.

Kevin comes across as serious about social issues, humble at heart and shows tremendous respect towards all nationalities and their cultures.

He is also gentle to talk to on the phone. I know that because I have had a few opportunities to answer competitions.

Even my wife feels comfortable in calling and answering the quizzes ... but only on his show.

The countdown has started and the moment is coming near, it's sad that very soon he will be gone.

His ardent listeners will miss the funny sounds, the laughter and multi-lingual chats in different accents.

Radio Bahrain will not sound the same in the afternoons. I wish Krazy Kevin all the best in Australia and I am sure wherever he goes he will fill the airwaves with laughter.

Thank you for entertaining us.

THE American Women's Association is pleased to announce that its biennial fundraising event, the Cherry Tree Trot (CTT), had a record number of physically and mentally challenged participants.

Not only did the morning of races provide a fun outing for hundreds of Bahrain's disabled residents, but with the help of sponsors, Lucky Draw ticket sales and registration fees, the CTT managed to raise more than BD50,000 which will help fund 35 various local organisations, homes and school for the next two years.

We are thrilled with the success of the event and want to thank everyone who participated and volunteered on Saturday, December 4.

Approximately 450 physically and mentally challenged and elderly people participated in the CTT from 18 different centres across Bahrain.

We also had more than 200 US service members volunteer to aid the challenged participants around the track.

A large portion of the money raised came from top level sponsorships. Batelco was the sole Platinum Sponsor, followed by Gold Sponsors Chevron Middle East/North Africa Inc, American Express Middle East and S-Chem.

Bahrain National Gas, GPIC, AWAL Plastics, Occidental, Banagas, United Gulf Bank, Al Ghanem, Bahrain Duty Free, Gulf Daily News, Daily Tribune, Gulf Weekly and Fine Foods of Bahrain were silver sponsors.

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons donated the Lucky Draw first prize, a 2010 Renault Sandero, and Gulf Air contributed three roundtrip tickets as 2nd prize. Third prize was a Persian rug from Bradran Carpets.

Results from the various races as well as Lucky Draw winning numbers are posted at www.cherry-tree-trot.com

Laila Hussain,

CTT co-chairperson.
