THE Zen-Do Bahrain Kickboxing Club is facing a knock-out blow, its founder and chief instructor Sensei Suhail Algosaibi has told members.
The business is up for sale but if a suitable buyer is not found, Zen-Do will likely be closed after the final black belt grading session is concluded in March.
Zen-Do Bahrain was the kingdom's first ever kickboxing club and over eight years developed into the largest martial arts school in the Middle East with 270 active students.
Mr Algosaibi, 37, said: "After much soul searching and agonising deliberation, I have decided to sell Zen-Do."
The charismatic businessman, who also runs the DreamBody Centre health and fitness studio close by in Hamala, which will remain in operation, has had to take on new responsibilities since his father Ghazi Abdulrahman Algosaibi, a renowned poet, businessman, diplomat, author and novelist, passed away.
"I cannot give Zen-Do the attention it deserves and needs," explained Mr Algosaibi. "I barely have enough time to make it to the instructor training sessions. I feel I am constantly struggling to balance all my responsibilities, and if I don't let one of them go, I'll end up doing nothing properly.
"This was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make in my life, and it took me a long time to decide. And, it took a while to make peace with myself after I'd made the decision, but I know it's for the best.
"I never planned for this to happen. I thought Zen-Do would last forever and that we'd take over the world. I'd like to also apologise to the students who joined recently, I know how frustrating it must be to join a place and then find out it is being sold or possibly even closed. As I said, I never planned for this.
"I'm not even sure if another martial artist would be interested in buying the school, but if so, it would have to be someone I know will take good care of our students. If a suitable buyer for Zen-Do is not found, then Zen-Do will be closed."
Any customers wishing to stop their membership will be refunded, alternatively, they can be transferred to the DreamBody Centre .
If anyone is interested in purchasing Zen-Do they are urged to get in touch with Mr Algosaibi. The price will vary significantly on what is bought, for example, just the location or the company name, the systems, manual and additional elements.
