Shoppaholics can go green at Bahrain City Centre as the mall gets to the root of good fashion with a prize-winning spectacular, writes Mai Al Khatib.

Its Galleria has been transformed into the 'Garden of Eden' with trendy designer dresses, shoes and bags draped over colourful trees and greenery.

The Fashion Garden initiative is being held in conjunction with the eighth annual Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) in order to promote sustainable practices in agriculture and environmental friendliness.

Ray Scott, Bahrain City Centre general manager, said: "The Fashion Garden emphasises our deep-rooted service to the growth and prosperity of the region. By designing a unique and attractive display we aim to encourage and highlight diversity and creativity.

"With our garden theme we also hope to show our support of BIGS that will take place at the same time."

Shoppers who spend BD20 or more can redeem their receipts at customer service desks for a raffle ticket. This will give them the chance to win one of more than 60 fashion items showcased in the garden and one lucky winner will win a grand prize shopping spree from Saks Fifth Avenue worth BD1,000.

American salon owner, Angela Cherrod, 28, from Juffair, was particularly excited at the launch of the fashion garden on Sunday. She said: "I would love to win a shopping spree at Saks Fifth Avenue ...who wouldn't? I think this is a great concept - let's start shopping!"

Visiting Saudi shopper Zaki Al Awami, 37, a cost analyst, said: "I really like the display as it is very imaginative. I also think it's a good idea that those who spend more than BD20 can get more entries and a better chance to win the grand prize."

Customers will also be offered an environmentally-friendly Bahrain City Centre Shopping bag (while stocks last) to take home and re-use.

The Fashion Garden will be open until March 5 and the raffle draw will take place on March 6. Winners will be contacted either via email or phone.

Bahrain City Centre is open from 10am to 10pm Sunday to Wednesday and from 10am to midnight on Thursday to Saturday.
