ROYAL Caribbean Cruises Ltd. honoured 11 travel industry partners from the Middle East for their contribution to generating cruise sales in 2010.

Media, travel traders and VIPs attended the award ceremony, which was held at the Royal Caribbean International stand at the ATM cruise pavilion in Dubai.

Sales volume, quality of bookings, year-on-year growth and business relationships were the criteria used for the awards.

The regional award for the Best Sales Performance was won by two agencies which achieved the same level of performance - Kurban Travel, Lebanon and Transworld Tavel, Bahrain.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al Oshban, principal and managing director of Safeen Tourism, the international representative of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in the Middle East, opened the ceremony. He said: "Cruising is one of the few segments of the travel industry that has continued to grow throughout these challenging trading times.

"We have been very successful once again by achieving fabulous overall guest volume growth of 56 per cent compared to last year.

"We are proud to say that all the countries that we represent in the Middle East achieved this growth. This great success would not have been possible without the valuable support and sales performance of the travel trade in the region," he added.

Helen Beck, regional director, International Representatives, EMEA, for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. echoed the sentiments, congratulating the winners and thanking them for their continued support.
