A successful car is one that combines performance, comfort and style and the Audi A6 does just that, writes Charlie Holding.
Most of the gadgets and gizmos from the A8L and A7 have trickled down into this model and the only discernable difference is the engine size.
With its 2.8-litre engine, the A6 lacks some of the horse power of the 4.2-litre A8L but that in no way detracts from the driving dynamic this model offers.
The ride has ample power for most drivers … I just prefer something a little beefier.
The cockpits of the new Audi range are virtually identical and it’s almost impossible to tell the difference between them from the inside, although the length of the body does differ. The only time I noticed the difference is when I hit the accelerator.
In terms of safety, the A6 comes up trumps yet again. It boasts a five star safety rating from the Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) consortium, which performs extensive testing of the crash performances of new cars.
The German manufacturer has been awarded 5 star ratings across the board – the highest rating possible.

From a woman’s point of view the Audi A6 is all you could ever wish for. It oozes luxury, class and fantastic German workmanship, writes Susan Tealby.
The touch-screen pad is designed for navigation and controlling the media functions. This is the first time I had seen such comprehensive technology and I was very impressed.
I was especially taken with the fact that the car has a ‘Park Assist’ button so it can park itself! I also noticed is if you are stuck in traffic, the engine cuts out which is cost effective as well as environmentally-friendly.
I also liked the LED speedometer in front of you on the windscreen, which you need in a powerful car, so you can keep an eye on your speed.
The Audi A6 is so smooth and quiet you often don’t realise just how fast you are going, so the LED is a great help.
The boot size is deceptively large and the seats at the back fold down, great for all those shopping trips to the malls. I thoroughly recommend the Audi A6 for women who want to drive their families around Bahrain safely in comfort.
