Germany positioned itself as the number one destination in Europe for Gulf Arabs last year with a total number of 307,000 travellers from the region.
For the first time, it surpassed its neighbours in the share of trips, out of the registered 1,261,000 GCC Arab travellers from to Europe in 2010, according to data released by the World Travel Monitor/IPK International.
Another trend regarding inbound tourism from Arabian Gulf countries to Europe points to an average length of stay of 12 nights. In addition, figures for 2010 showed an impressive increase of 26.4 per cent in overnight stays from Gulf nationals in Germany.
Antje Roeding-Boudier, director of the marketing and sales office at the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) in Dubai said: “Germany not only has vibrant towns and cities, which are a mix of cultural richness and an eventful life, but it also offers a vast countryside and an endless series of breath-taking landscapes.
“On the other hand, wellness, and medical tourism places Germany among the favourite destinations of international travellers for the high-quality of services and medical staff.”
Germany is located in the centre of Europe and the territory covers 357,021 sq/km from the mountains of the Alps in the south to the shores of the North Sea in the north-west and the Baltic Sea in the north-east.
Excellent flight connections and hospitality services specifically targeted to visitors coming from Bahrain and its neighbours, have helped to build up Germany’s reputation over the years.
