The Pakistan Embassy is hosting a contemporary art exhibition in co-operation with The Collectors Galleria, Lahore featuring 12 prominent Pakistani artists at the Bahrain Arts Centre, near Bahrain National Museum.
 
The exhibition, which ends tomorrow, shows the works of Abrar, Mohammed Ali Bukhari, Mussarat, Farrukh Shahab, Sarfraz Mussawir, Salman Farooqi, Amjad Butt, Shafique Farooqui, Momin Khan, Moazzam Ali, Qamar Siddiqui and Tariq Javed. It will feature mixed media and oil paintings. Timings are from 8am to 1pm and 4pm to 8pm.

The Al Riwaq Art Space in Adliya will screen the 1975-documentary L’histoire d’Adèle H, the story of the Adèle Hugo, the daughter of writer Victor Hugo, whose obsessive unrequited love for a naval officer led to her downfall. For details contact 17717441.

The Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir will host its second National Racing Festival on the weekend of November 19 and another on the weekend of December 23 with the season finale scheduled for February 11, 2012.
The festival will feature off-the-track entertainment including carnival games, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts stations, a ‘Water Walker’ and other activities. Tickets are BD3 for seats on the Oasis Grandstand and BD5 for seats overlooking the start line. The price of the start line tickets include both Thursday and Friday. Pirates will be dropping anchor at the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park from Nov 3 to 16 aiming to thrill the crowds with their swash-buckling sword displays, acrobatic skills, dancing, pyrotechnics and high dives. There will be four daily shows – 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm – with a total of 52 performances.

Al Riwaq Art Space’s Outdoor Market 338 will showcase creative and artistic products for five weeks ending December 16. Artistic handicrafts donated by a group of artists will be offered for sale with proceeds helping the Bahrain Cancer Society. It will follow a different theme every week with ‘fashion’ on November 10 and 11, ‘food’ on November 24 and 25, ‘crafts’ on November 24 and 25 and the Bahrain National Day Celebration on December 15 and 16. The Bahrain Triathlon Challenge will host the Olympic Triathlon on November 11 featuring a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run. There will also be a Sprint Triathlon featuring a 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run, a Try a Tri featuring 300m swim, 10km bike and 3km run and a 5km walkathon. On December 12, there will be a Half Ironman Triathlon featuring a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run, a Sprint Triathlon featuring 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run, Try a Tri featuring a 300m swim, 10km bike and 3km run and a 5km walkathon. Entry fee is BD15 per athlete above 16 and BD20 for a team, BD8 per athlete for juniors aged 12 to 15 and BD12 per team and BD2 for walkers aged 12 and above. The Bahrain Triathlon challenge is conducted in support of cancer and autism patients.

The third Bahrain International Motor Show will take place tomorrow, Friday and Saturday at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The 2011 event will showcase a selection of cars from local dealerships with the aim of also introducing visitors to a range of new brands and models. Test drives will also be offered.

British stunt driver Terry Grant will be performing alongside a ‘monster truck’ act in two daily shows for spectators. There will also be entertaining performances from creative artists and a kid’s play area. “We have kicked the entertainment up a notch to keep visitors adrenaline pumping all day long,” said Wassim Sami Farhoud, CEO of Auto Collection, the show organisers.
