Bahrain’s top player Jaffer Ibrahim will lead a host of local stars when the Travelex Indian Club-GCC Open Badminton Tournament gets underway on December 28. More than 100 players from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain are expected to participate in the three-day event, which is being organised by the club in association with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF).

The event will feature competition in seven categories – men’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, veterans doubles, under-19 boys singles, under-19 boys doubles and under-19 girls doubles – and is open to all GCC residents. Entry forms are available at The Indian Club reception.

Players can also write in to icgcc2011@gmail.com requesting for entry forms. The last date for entries is December 20 and completed entry forms should be mailed to icgcc2011@gmail.com

Satheesh G is chief co-ordinator.Jayashree Nair and Hary R Unnithan are the tournament’s co-ordinators. The executive committee of The Indian Club, the organising committee of IC-GCC 2011 and the BBSF are looking for sponsors.

The Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre is holding an exhibition titled Documenting Muharraq at the Bin Matar House in Muharraq featuring the works of 10 photographers from the island and the region.

It features different shots of the urban landscape and changing contours of Muharraq. The show which will be held until December 24 is the outcome of a two-month long photography workshop.
