On Friday, Shakhoora Riding Centre hosted the second of its league dressage events to roundup 2011. The event was sponsored by The American Augers Company, with an additional raffle prize, a beautiful bracelet donated by Horse Pride.

The first event was the Preliminary Beginners Class, which saw Tory Cowx astride Sultan, taking their first prize of the day. The pair were followed by Jerry Taylor riding the beautiful Airforce in second place.

Next was a second preliminary class, the Preliminary 13, which put Sara Al Mutawa and her stunning horse Bart through their paces to take the top podium position. She was followed by the Tory/Sultan combination coming in second for their second prize of the day. Yulia Frolova, riding the talented Dream, took third place, with the talents of Jerry Taylor, once again with Airforce, securing fourth place.

The Novice Class saw some great horsemanship, with Zain Al Thawadi riding her handsome lad, Glasur. They showed style and grace as they executed their moves perfectly to claim first prize. Valerie Puls on her lovely mare Pippa took second place, with veteran Trish Fryer, stepping out with Asgoodasgold, securing third place, while Sara and Bart as well as Yulia and Dream, brought their horses into the final line up.

The final event was the Elementary Class, where horses have to show collection in their movement, as well as an advanced outline throughout the whole test - a complicated one for both horse and rider.

Valerie and Pippa simply pulled out all the stops as they performed the complex manoeuvres, though equally sophisticated were Zain with Glasur and Asgoodasgold did Trish proud as they rode a great test.

Horse, rider and spectators alike, enjoyed a lovely day with Zain Al Thawadi, taking an additional prize home by winning the raffle.

Shakoora will kick off 2012, with their third dressage on January 6 and show jumping on January 20.
