The American Women’s Association held its first general meeting of the year at The Royal Golf Club on Sunday. The entertainment for the meeting filled the hearts of members and guests with song! Lydia Martin and her performers Music and Stage for Kids (MASK) entertained the audience with songs from their upcoming musical Annie. She also informed us about the exciting musical programmes being offered through the recently-formed academies at the British School of Bahrain.

Beverley West, AWA.

I’ve been in touch with our musical director Michael Natzke who tells me that one instrumentalist so far has indicated any interest to perform with us. There have been five other queries to date but mostly from people asking about singing rather than playing in the orchestra, and whereas we are happy to welcome new choir members, it is instrumentalists we really need .

We’re sure there are lots of musicians here in Bahrain still – it’s just a question of reaching them.

The Manama Singers are currently planning our next concert provisionally on Friday, March 23.For this concert, which will be our first major event since June 2010, we require an orchestra of 30 to 40 people.

If you are interested in performing with us, we would very much like to hear from you! Please contact Michael via email on mnatzke@gmail.com with your name, contact details, the instrument(s) you play or call me on 39954040.

Mike Keates,
Vice-chairman.
