The Whisperer

A friend of the Whisperer was sitting next to a very experienced pilot who was winging his way back to the UK to take some examinations to enable him to obtain a UK license should the need arise in the near future.

Like many British expats working for the national carrier at this time it is essential to cover all possibilities in its present financial plight but it is typical of rip-off Britain to insist experienced flyers retake their examinations just in case they need to return to find work.

Of course, they have to pay out thousands of pounds to take the examinations and to receive the five-year certificate despite being assured when they left Blighty to join international airlines that it would not be necessary … especially as most of them fly passenger jets into Heathrow every week in any case!
