Preparations are underway for the 36th annual Charity Raft Race which is being held by the Rotary Club of Salmaniya on April 6.

The event will be held at the Al Bander Hotel and Resort in Sitra for the 12th consecutive year. The format of this year’s event remains the same, with the cost of entering a team at BD350.

The event consists of two feature races: the men taking place in the open waters at the Al Bander resort and the mixed event staged inside the lagoon area. Each team will comprise of 10 participants, with eight on the raft and two in reserve.

The rafts will be provided by the Rotary Club and participating teams will be able to practice and attend training sessions one month prior to the race.This year’s charity event is to raise funds to fight Sickle Cell Disease.

Author Robin Sharma, pictured below, a leadership guru who has worked with over five million employees in 62 countries and penned the bestselling book ‘The monk who sold his Ferrari’ will be hosting a half-day seminar at the Gulf Convention Centre, Gulf Hotel, on Sunday.

Mr Sharma has more than 15 years experience working with several Fortune 500 companies including Nike, FedEx, Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Microsoft, IBM and NASA to help grow the potential of their leaders.
