Gulf Weekly Music Box

As I cobble together some words for this week’s Music Box, I now understand why real journalists prepare two or more articles in advance of their deadlines in case planned events may or may not actually happen. I’m sure no-one needs telling why I mention this, but I am going to be 200 per cent positive and put together just one Music Box for this week - and it’s going to have a high speed, all-action racing theme about it.

My interest in all forms of motor sport far exceeds my casual interest in any other sport, and I will always get drawn into watching the old tellybox if I see some guys throwing about machinery, wherever they may be – on a race circuit, off-road, snow, sand, the list goes on.

So it goes that while scanning the official BIC-running schedule for this weekend my eyes lit up at the fact that not only are the Formula 1 boys here, but also the GP2 series, the Porsche Mobil Supercup and the awesome WGA Supercars Middle East Championship - Petrol head heaven!

Why not put together some songs with a driving theme then, and maybe the stadium announcer will read this week’s edition and slip some of these tunes over the official PA system – or not, as the case may be?

Steppenwolf – Born To Be Wild
Rihanna – Shut Up And Drive
Golden Earring – Radar Love
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
Roy Orbison – I Drove All Night
Yello – The Race
Roxette – Sleeping In My Car
The Eagles – Life In The Fast Lane
The Beatles – Baby You Can Drive My Car
Limp Bizkit – Keep On Rollin’
And, you really must include the ultimate car song featuring a very young John Travolta – Greased Lightning!

Let me leave you with a topical thought: birds of a feather flock together and then mess all over your car.
