Twin Palms Riding Centre held three pony camps over the Easter holidays, one of which was aimed at up-and-coming riders eager to compete. Anki Holmstrom really put them through their paces.

The youngsters had to correctly read and complete an entry form, work out exactly what classes they could/would do. This was meant to trick some of the kids – a ploy to ensure they really did read the small print!

Once all signed up and ready they had to prepare their ponies/horses and were given instructions on tack cleaning, plaiting and a thorough pony cleaning exercise.

After the ponies were ready, the youngsters were taken to the show arena where they had to walk the course and decide on their strategies.

The first class was a treasure hunt, and they were allowed to jump any fences they wanted to.
The whole morning was set up like a show day with an announcer and all rules and regulations in place.
To accommodate these show jumpers of the future, Twin Palms will be holding a kids only show jumping event in a few weeks. Details to come soon.

Shakhoora Riding Stables
Shakhoora Riding Stables changed the date of its final dressage event to this Friday. A final Show Jumping event will follow seven days later.

The Dilmun Riding Stables
The Dilmun Riding Stables will host the final of this season’s In-House Show Jumping League events on Friday too. As this article goes to press, the Dilmun organisers have not yet made a decision as to the start time, so check it out with the stable before heading down there.
