Audi launched its new luxury compact SUV, the Q3, at a ceremony at Bahrain City Centre.
The launch by Behbehani, the marque’s distributor, took place last week in the presence of brand officials, the media and Audi enthusiasts who flocked to catch a glimpse of the new model.
The company says the Q3 is immediately recognisable as the youngest member of the large Audi family and every aspect of it showcases the brand’s technology.
Earlier this year the Audi Q3 received five stars – the highest possible score – for passive crash safety by the European consumer protection initiative Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).
The Euro NCAP test is regarded as one of the most demanding tests in the world to be applied to new vehicles. It is recognised as a benchmark for crash safety by governments, automobile clubs and consumer protection organisations throughout Europe.
Although compact, the Q3 offers ample room for all five passengers and sets new standards for ergonomics, workmanship as well as countless possibilities for customers to express their own personal style, its makers say.
There is also plenty of space inside for luggage or shopping. The boot has a capacity of 460 litres, which can be increased to 1,365 litres.
For the Middle East, the standard settings include heat insulating glass and a deluxe automatic air conditioning system that takes into account the position of the sun and level of humidity.
The Q3 boasts optional extras taken directly from the luxury class including the adaptive light system, high-beam assistant and panoramic glass roof.
There are also a range of driver assistance systems on offer including the park assist system which maneuvers the vehicle into tight parking spaces almost autonomously; and side assist, which employs radar to help the driver change lanes safely.
As for infotainment options, there’s plenty to choose from including the hard-drive navigation system MMI navigation plus, which displays high-resolution 3D graphics on a fold-out 7.0-inch colour monitor.
The Audi Q3 is being launched with two four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI engine options, which combine direct injection with turbocharging and feature an energy recovery system.
With power outputs of 170hp and 211hp, these engines propel the Q3 from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 and 6.9 seconds respectively on their way to a top speed of 212 and 230 km/h. Both engines feature Audi’s trademark quattro all-wheel drive and a fast-shifting dual-clutch seven-speed S tronic transmission.
Prices start from BD14,055 for the 2.0 TFSI with 170 hp and BD14,979 for the 2.0 TFSI with 211 hp including five years or 105,000 km service (GCC).
