Gulf Weekly Write to the editor

I was interested to read about the ‘flowing river’ running outside the Bahrain Rugby Club in last week’s Whisperer column as I had reported the burst water main to the authorities a fortnight ago to no avail.

I was thanked, texted a reference number recording my complaint (although it was not a complaint, more of a helpful observation) and yet on Saturday morning (August 4) I drove along road 7113 and the water was still gushing out and the river was now cascading down a second road.

What a complete waste. Why does no-one care about this major leak? Why does no-one act? It’s a baffling state of affairs.

Ian, Bahrain.

I JUST wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading Susan Tealby’s refreshing personal travel article entitled ‘Jet-Setting Adventure’ published in last week’s GulfWeekly. It was breezy, richly-informative, and yet uncluttered.

I particularly enjoyed the content about the Cook Islands, which seriously invoked my dual interests in history and travel. I think I too may one day visit Trader Jacks!

Ramadan is great time of year for family, charity and spiritual reflection. And, it’s an added bonus that the roads are empty during my drive home from work in the evening! No dangerous overtaking or bumper-to-bumper traffic ... can it be Ramadan all year please?

Jeremy Fisher, Adliya.
