Are you ready for a wardrobe overhaul but do not have enough cash to back it up? The solution could be simple …. accessorise!

By investing in a few key pieces the fashion-conscious can easily transform a drab outfit into several new looks, according to fashion gurus’ offering tips and tricks on how to look cool this autumn in the kingdom.

The latest ‘Taste of Fashion’ event for invited guests, staged by Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre and the mall, featured a showcase of bright and colourful bangles, big bold necklaces and oversized handbags as well as classy clutches.

The ‘statement jewellery’ modelled from the latest Saks Fifth Avenue collections oozed femininity and fun. Not surprising, as the luxury department store is one of the world’s pre-eminent specialty retailers renowned for its superlative American and international designer offerings.

The tea party-style event, held at Kempinski’s T-Spoon Café on the mall’s ground floor, attracted VIP clients, the island’s elite fashionistas and bloggers. The event gave them the chance to schmooze and choose over delicious finger food while admiring a collection of designer wear, handbags, shoes and jewellery draped on leggy models providing an up-close and personal experience.

The retailer showcased the glamorous Autumn/Winter collections from a range of designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, Chloe and Emilio Pucci, to name but a few.

Four models gracefully meandered through the venue, first in casual day wear then returning looking ready for a fun evening out.

For example, one model called Anastasia wore a baroque Alexander McQueen dress accessorised with an Armani Collezioni jacket, Stuart Weitzman flat boots and a large black Celine bag and then transformed the daytime look into a glamorous evening ensemble by ditching the coat, bag and flats and instead opting for an Alexander McQueen clutch and sassy Diane von Furstenberg ankle boots.

The designer store also revealed how to spice up a professional wardrobe by adding rich colours or opulent statement jewellery and handbags. In total, the show featured 16 uniquely put together outfits.

Dana Adjina, Saks Fifth Avenue’s marketing executive, said: “You can update your wardrobe without breaking the bank thanks to accessories. You can either dress up your outfit or dress it down depending on what bag you are carrying or the shoes you’re wearing.

“Items every girl should have in her closet or should invest in are killer heels as well as a statement classic big, bold bag or tote that will take her from day to night.

“What is big this season is anything peplum, which is a short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse or dress.

“They are also saying that this season opulence is the new black so baroque-style or anything overly decorative, is in. Don’t forget to think puffy sleeves, feminine fabrics and primary colours.”

After the fashion show guests received complimentary goody bags from the organisers. Several lucky ladies also walked away with prizes including a BD100 store shopping spree and a hotel package, which includes a two-night stay in a luxurious suite inclusive of a five-star buffet breakfast.
