The Whisperer

The Whisperer heard a worrying tale of an expat dad who got entangled in the road-blocking, tyre-burning, idiotic shenanigans going on in Saar on a regular basis each Thursday evening.

He had just collected his teenage daughter from a birthday party and was the last of a line of three cars trying to squeeze through a gap of stone boulders and bricks being placed across the main road.

One masked hooligan took exception and decided to throw a rock at the car, narrowly missing the passenger window where the girl was sitting.

The furious dad jumped out of his vehicle to confront the trio and it could have got even nastier, but three-against-one is not great odds, especially when one of the yobs is brandishing a Molotov cocktail in his hand and your daughter is screaming in the car.

As a token of goodwill another rock was thrown at his car before he drove away.

Trying to report the incident to the police also proved challenging too. He waited patiently at one office in an attempt to get the paperwork necessary to claim on his car insurance only to be sent to two other offices elsewhere because of the nature of the incident and he eventually gave up and went home.
