The annual Think Pink Bahrain Ladies Charity Golf Day at the Royal Golf Club proved once more to be a colourful and competitive event for a worthy cause.
Coupled with the Gents event, featured in last week’s GulfWeekly, more than BD8,000 was raised for the Bahrain-based breast cancer awareness charity.
The 18-hole Texas Scramble tournament on the club’s challenging Montgomerie championship course was won by the team of Lady vice captain Hanne Hansen, Patricia Shiach, Dena Wales and Caroline Valdez with a net score of 63.9.
The team of Sara Axtell, Debbie Payne, Anne Timmers and Jane Watson finished in second place on 66.4 nett.
A 9-hole tournament for newer golfers took place on the Wee Monty par 3 course and was won by the team of Shauna Nearingleoj, Milena, Padula, Gayle Humphreys and Michelle Hopman with a nett score of 30.
“All the ladies had a fantastic time,” said John Wilson, the Royal Golf Club’s golf operations & events manager. “Nearly 100 ladies took part in total and to make the competitions even more exciting, sponsors kindly provided a number of side-contest prizes, including one for the best dressed golf cart and one for the best dressed golf trolley.”
The 2012 Think Pink Bahrain Ladies Golf Day was rounded off with a prize-giving ceremony and lunch in the club’s Majlis function room.
