Abdulla Al Yaqoob combined two bogeys and a birdie for a solid one under par 28 to win the under-21 category of this week’s VIVA Junior Saturday Series competition at the Royal Golf Club.
This gave him a two-shot cushion over his nearest rival Fares Mohammed who returned a 30. The win puts Abdulla at the top of the under-21’s order of merit on 65 points and gives him a five-point advantage over second-placed Fahad Al Hakam with only two events left in the series.
In the under-16 category a countback had to be used to determine the winner after Ali Mohammed Al Hakam and Saud Al Sharif were both tied on 34 shots. In the end it was Ali Mohammed who came out on top and the win propelled him to the top of the order of merit with 50 points.
Taimur Malik won the under-12 category once again with an outstanding score of 31 for the talented nine-year-old. Taimur, recently featured in GulfWeekly, is the runaway winner in this order of merit having accumulated a whopping 185 points so far in the series.
