I thought you might like to know that I have bid for and now own the official scoresheet from the London Olympics for the women’s 1,500 metres, the only medal (bronze) won by Bahrain’s Maryam Jamal.

This in a unique and authenticated document from the London Olympics and I hope that it can be displayed somewhere prominently in a public place in Bahrain to celebrate Maryam’s, pictured left, success.

I am not sure whether to keep it and let the Rugby Club display it or sell it to someone locally. It cost me around BD200 so I would be looking for more than that if I were to sell.

My family arrive on in Bahrain on December 19 and there will be five of them – my parents, sister, brother-in-law and niece.

Now that I live in the lovely Hamala Beach Resort (out in the country!) transport is going to be a bit of a challenge. So I have advertised but I am being quoted BD30-40 a day, which I feel is a bit pricey.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe you are away for the holidays, and have a big car we could use for a nominal fee, or you know of a reliable driver that would charge per trip?

Would appreciate readers’ suggestions. Many thanks!
