The word ‘detox’ has become so common these days that almost everybody will know what you’re talking about if you mention it. But not many grasp the real sense of the word.
When you detox, you should not only try a detox drink or two; detox in the true sense of the word means removing everything that is toxic from your life.
You can start with your household. Replace all your household cleaning items with natural alternatives such as lemon, vinegar, or tea tree oil and avoid using air fresheners and insect sprays inside the house.
Have a close look at your toiletries and buy more natural brands such as fluoride-free toothpaste, aluminium-free deodorants and natural shampoos.
Then have a look at your diet. Is everything you’re putting in your mouth friendly to your body? Cut out caffeine, fizzy drinks and sugar as these are all toxic to our system. Also, buy organic food as much as possible and wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating them.
Last but not least, try to remove negative thoughts (and maybe even negative people) from your life. Negative thoughts and emotions can create toxins to the body, so scan your environment and make sure you’re surrounding yourself with positive people and happy thoughts.
Toxins can make the blood very acidic, so make sure you add lots of salads, vegetables and green juices (made with salad leaves, cucumber, and apple) into your diet, they all have an alkalising effect on the body. Healing only occurs in an alkaline body.
