I SPOTTED a display of Bahrain Air goodies on sale at the duty free shop in Bahrain International Airport last week.

Playing cards with the fallen flyer’s logo on can be snapped up for half price at just BD3 and sadly, hanging limply from the ceiling, were a number of toy planes that would have flown around in circles on a piece of string if anyone could have bothered to change their batteries.

Perhaps, profits from the sales could go into a fund to repay passengers who had paid for tickets in good faith before the airline suddenly went bust? Or, why not pack them up and offer them as some kind of compensation? In a few years’ time they might be worth a mint to collectors of aviation memorabilia.

Traveller, Bahrain.

Arsenal School Bahrain will participate in an International Football Festival taking place in the UK this summer which will bring together teams from different schools and academics from all around the world.

The event, scheduled to take place from August 9-18, was postponed for almost a year due to the onset of the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the Disney Cup in America.

A number of tournaments will be organised in order to determine which team will represent Bahrain at the Arsenal Championship. The school has started training again for age groups between 5-19 for the third session of 2012-2013 at Soccer City in Janabiyah concentrating on how best to tackle foreign competition and teams.

Firstly, we’d like to wish all the players good luck for the start of the third semester and at the same time thank the organising committee of the International Festival for their understanding and scheduling the event after the Holy Month of Ramadan. This kind and generous gesture will give our Muslim players an opportunity to participate in the festival as well.

Abdul Hameed Al Kooheji, managing director, Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain.
