THE first McLaren raced by former F1 world champion Jenson Button in his debut season for the team in 2010 will be placed on display in the new McLaren Manama showroom.

The Moda Mall showroom, set to open to the public on Saturday, will be previewed at a press gathering tomorrow with McLaren Automotive and Al Ghassan Motors executives present, including Mark Harrison, McLaren Automotive regional director Middle East and Africa, and David Leach, managing director, Al Ghassan Motors.

A series of images featuring the $1 million McLaren P1 super car highlighting the links between McLaren’s Formula 1 expertise and its road car development programme have been released to coincide with the showroom launch.

“Just 375 examples of the McLaren P1 will be made ensuring a level of exclusivity and desirability to match the car’s unique performance, and interest in the Middle East is already outstripping supply following the car’s successful debut in Bahrain,” a company spokesman said.

Supported by Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat, the company’s principal shareholder, McLaren Automotive launched the 12C in 2011, the 12C Spider in 2012, and, recently at the Geneva Auto Show, the McLaren P1.
