The Bahrain Rugby Football Club’s International Weekend festivities opened on Thursday night with a charity dinner and auction at its new function hall in aid of the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCH).

The hall was officially opened by British Ambassador to Bahrain Iain Lindsay untying a ribbon off a ceremonial plaque with club chairman Mehdi Honor.

Former Edinburgh Fringe Festival performer Nader Shaheen followed with a comedic routine, before guest speaker Helenita Noble, daughter of Christina, told diners about the charity’s work helping needy children and England’s World Cup star Steve Thompson stood up for a question-and-answer session. The rugby ace, England’s most-capped hooker, is an ambassador for CNCH and was accompanied to the event by his wife, Stephanie, and their six-month-old daughter, Seren.
