Gulf Weekly Bahraini duo win

The Bahraini pairing of Abdulla Sultan and Shaker Hubail enjoyed an easy victory in the second competition of the new six-week African & Eastern Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club (RGC).

The duo achieved an impressive score of 25 points giving them a comfortable three-point cushion over the runners-up.

The second place was more difficult to discern with an incredible nine teams tied on 22 points. After considerable mathematical calculations, Stephen Key and Daryl Fidge were awarded second place and Murtuz Zamanly and Bijan Majidi took third place on countback.

In the side contests David Wales came nearest the pin on hole number 12 and Daryl Fidge did the same on the challenging 16th hole.

Overall, 52 players took to the club’s Montgomerie championship course for the popular event. The competition was played in the ‘Rainbow Challenge’ format – a pairs’ betterball using varying tees. Conditions on the night were ideal with a pleasant temperature and a gentle breeze.

A prize-giving ceremony took place in the RGC’s Members’ Lounge. Kate Gibson from African & Eastern was on hand to present the prizes.
