If you are stressed, then you’ll know what it feels like to be both tired and wired at the same time.
When you’re stressed, your adrenal glands are working overtime and eventually you start feeling like you’re exhausted but you can’t stop going. You are restless and hyper and often reach burn-out stage where you just crash on the weekend.
Preserving your ‘adrenal sanity’ is very important because prolonged adrenal fatigue can lead to adrenal exhaustion. And, once you’re at that stage, you will have a hard time handling stress in the future.
Your adrenals need a few vitamins and minerals to function well. These include vitamin C, Magnesium, all the B vitamins, especially B12, and the all-important vitamin D that you get from the sun.
Your adrenals also need some down time. Make sure you dedicate some time in your day to unwind. Try to meditate, listen to music, take a bath, or just sit in silence. This down time will give your adrenals the chance to recuperate.
You might think that caffeine is good at giving your adrenals a boost but in fact it’s doing the opposite. Caffeine will only send you crashing harder once its effects wear off, so make sure you replace caffeinated drinks with herbal teas and fresh juices.
