The Rolls-Royce Wraith, the luxury marque’s most powerful model to-date, made its debut in Bahrain at a swanky ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa.
The launch by Euro Motors, the dealer of Rolls-Royce in the kingdom, was attended by top company officials, VIPs and British Ambassador to Bahrain, Iain Lindsay.
With an elegant design and the ability to accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 4.6 seconds, the 624 bhp-model presents a unique character defined by power, style and drama, its makers say.
Geoffrey Briscoe, regional director, Middle East, Africa and Latin America, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said: “The most powerful Rolls-Royce in history, Wraith promises the sense of adventure and speed that drove our founding forefather. But of course, Wraith’s starting point is luxury, refinement and quality, traits that remain as important to Rolls-Royce customers today as they were more than a century ago.”
Paul Yates, general manager of Euro Motors, said: “The Wraith is already an astounding success in Bahrain. Our allocations for 2013 are already in high demand and the order books are looking very healthy.”
In profile, Wraith’s sweeping fastback design gives the car its unique character. The model also boasts a deeply-recessed grille, wide rear track and two-tone presentation.
Coach doors open to reveal a sophisticated interior, complete with soft Phantom-grade leathers and expanses of wood called Canadel Panelling.
Starlight Headliner, a bespoke feature available beyond Phantom family cars for the first time, complements the interior ambiance. Around 1,340 fibre optic lamps are hand-woven into the roof lining to give the impression of a night sky.
Furthermore, the debut of Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT) technology takes the powertrain to a new level of effortless delivery, its makers say.
SAT uses GPS data to see beyond what the driver sees; it anticipates his next move based on location and current driving style, then selects the most appropriate gear for the terrain ahead. Corners, motorway junctions and roundabouts are all anticipated in advance.
Advances in mechanical and electrical technology deliver systems include head-up display, adaptive headlights and Wraith’s keyless opening boot. Although information on pricing is hard to come by, since each model is bespoke, the international media have revealed you wouldn’t have much change from BD143,000.
First deliveries will be made to customers in the final quarter of 2013.
