Have you ever gone on a weight loss kick, then something happens to break it? You go back on then something else interrupts your progress and it keeps going on and off like this until your plan becomes the exception rather than the rule.
We tend to forget about healthy eating when we are sick because we are just thinking of getting over the illness.
However, people who are recovering from illness are the ones that need healthy eating the most. It is your food that will help you recover, heal wounds and get back on your feet. It is also your food that will prevent you from falling ill again.
The irony is that we find poor quality food in a lot of places where healthy food is needed the most. Hospitals are one example. Hospital food is often known for its bad taste, but when you really check you realise that not only does it taste average, it also adds nothing to the recovery process.
Hospital food should include fresh crunchy vegetables, delicious steamed vegetables, healthy whole grains and lots of other foods that will promote health and healing. What you get instead is wilted fruits, white rice, bland dishes and desserts full of sugar.
So, make a note today: if you get sick, it is the most important time for your healthy eating efforts to increase.
Bring out all the weapons and make yourself stronger. If you’re trying to lose weight, don’t lose track of your goal. Stay the course even during illness. Your body will recover, you’ll continue to lose weight and you’ll be more prepared next time!

* Talk therapy performed by nurses and other clinic staff may help people with health anxiety stop worrying about being sick when they’re not, a new study suggests. The goal of so-called cognitive behaviour therapy, or CBT, is to help people understand how their thoughts and attitudes affect how they feel and how they respond to situations. It then addresses practical steps people can take to improve negative thoughts and outcomes.
* A study of nearly a million girls, the human papillomavirus vaccine was not linked to short or long-term health problems. The HPV vaccine, given in three doses over a period of six months to boys and girls around age 12, protects against infection by a virus that can cause cervical cancer. It is not offered free in Bahrain for cultural reasons.
