AS the tech war rages on between electronic giants Apple and Samsung in the lead up to Christmas, a re-emerging brand is making a big noise in Bahrain and aiming to knock the top dogs down a peg.
Nokia’s new Lumia device, the 1520, which was unveiled exclusively with VIVA, is aiming to appeal to shutterbugs in the kingdom who may require as much camera as phone.
It boasts a large HD screen, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and staggering 20MP PureView camera with optical image stabilisation, enabling sharp images even in the dark, as well as oversampling and zooming technology.
It also comes with all the exclusive features of Windows Phone 8, like Live Tiles and People Hub as well as built-in Microsoft Office.
The Finnish company also launched the Lumia 1520’s smaller sibling the Lumia 1320, three new Asha models – including the first 3G device in its wallet friendly Asha platform – and showcased its first-ever Windows tablet, the Nokia Lumia 2520.
Andrew Hanna, VIVA CCO, said: “VIVA enjoys a solid partnership with Nokia which has enabled us to bring our customers Nokia’s latest technological innovations. We are pleased to partner with Nokia and launch the flagship Nokia Lumia 1520 for our customers.”
With a range of imaging apps available, the Lumia 1320 comes with Nokia Music for free streaming of ad-free music and HERE maps and location services.
Meanwhile, the Lumia 2520 tablet, boasts a vivid 10.1-inch HD display that is designed to provide the best outdoor and indoor readability. It combines both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity, a 6.7MP camera, and for the first time ever on a tablet, ZEISS optics (for the uninitiated Carl Zeiss is a well respected camera lens maker).
The Nokia Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 will be available in bright red, bright green, yellow, cyan, white and black, for BD28, BD36 and BD38; respectively.
The Lumia 1520 will be available soon and price plans will be announced shortly after.
