LOCAL rivals Jurassic Juniors lined up against Environmental Arabia BC, with Environmental looking to cement their spot at the top of the league, whilst the Juniors were looking to put their first points on the board.

Both teams started well, pushing for the early goal, but it was Jurassic, right, who had the better of the play, with Stu Jones and Scott Horne causing problems for the opposition’s defence.

The pressure was rewarded after 10 minutes when Scott Horne jinked through the Environmental defence, managing to push the ball past the outstretched goalkeeper.

Jurassic looked to maintain their lead, with Geoff Fennah bossing the middle of the park. The lead was short-lived, however, as they were caught out five minutes later as Environmental took a throw-in that was flicked on into the path of Marcin, who finish emphatically.

Chances were missed by both teams as the half neared its conclusion, but then a well-worked ball from Jurassic captain James Langdale, AKA Loaf Faabred, found Scott on the edge of the box, who on the turn curled a sublime effort in off the far post.

The second half was much the same as the first, with both teams creating chances, but as the game wore on Environmental committed more players forward looking for the equaliser, leaving gaps at the back.

Jurassic keeper Rich Fullerton pulled off some good saves tipping two shots from distance over the top, but for the most part had little too troubling to deal with as Ash Kingstone and Loaf kept the attackers under wraps.

Jurassic had two great chances to put the game to bed as a Geoff Fennah free-kick was narrowly flicked over the bar by Jones, and another when Scott burst through the Environmental defence collecting a flick on from Jones but could only smash his volley against the bar.

As the game moved into the final 10 minutes Environmental were pushing hard, but some tireless work from Tarik Moustahib and Tim Gillett in midfield kept the opposition at bay and Jurassic took their first three points and bragging rights at the Brit Club.
