Just wanted to say a massive thank you to GulfWeekly which has been so supportive of our cause and published my event twice in the newspaper (wish it came out every day) to try to get more publicity for our event and to help sell the tickets. It was really appreciated.
My thanks also go to all the readers of GulfWeekly who read the story and sent their support, donations and pledges and attended the auction to support Adam and our family.
I cannot thank you all enough for your kindness and generosity. It was truly a magical night and one that I will hold dear to my heart forever.
I’m so happy to announce that we managed to achieve the target set to raise the money we needed to lodge our next legal case in Qatar.
This would not have been possible without the support of all the very kind and generous people of Bahrain and those who donated worldwide. Everyone stood together to help Adam and our family cannot thank you enough for supporting us through this very difficult time.
Looking forward to the day when we get front page coverage of Adam returning home at the airport.
God bless you all.
Rebecca (Adam’s mum).
Two months back we spotted a dog with a severe head injury near Hamala area. The BSPCA was contacted to help catch the dog but by the time all the team was on site, the dog was found dead.
Today, another dog was also found with similar head wounds, the type of wounds that cannot be caused by a car accident. A vet confirmed that this was a very old wound, probably a month old, caused by a dog fight. The wound got further infected and reached the jaw and neck area.
These two incidents were spotted only two months apart and in the same area. It is making us wonder if there is more to it than some simple coincidence. Could these dogs have been used as baits for illegal dog-fighting activities and then left back on the streets after being severely wounded to die in agony?
We are pleading with the authorities to put stricter laws towards illegal dog-fighting activities and a governmental facility with more resources that can help in catching such cases and treating them.
Will someone please help these poor strays?
Fathiya Al Bastaki Founder of Bahrain Strays.
Thank you for reporting on the abuse of the stray dogs. I am writing you to get more information, if you have any. Is there anything we can do individually to directly help these dogs?
Is there an individual that you know of to contact to find out more?
I have already signed the petition on Change.org and emailed the BSPCA to inform them in case they did not know about this abuse.
I looked at the member listing on Facebook for the Bahrain Strays but there is really no place to comment or get any information there.
I would appreciate your help!
Thank you,
Cheryl Nielson, Awali resident.

Thank you for a really fabulous piece in GulfWeekly last week regarding the Streetsmart Bahrain guide book. I found it online and then saw a PDF of the actual paper and I couldn’t be happier. Really love the way you put it together and the visuals. I should also tell you that I got another large order today, which may well have been prompted by the coverage, and, as a result, am now officially sold out of the 2013 edition beyond what’s currently in the bookshops (a good thing an ebook is in infinite supply). Thanks again.
