TALENTED graphic designer Chris Manners has produced an activity book for children dedicated to Bahrain and its many treasures.

The publication should keep expat children entertained on festive flights home and could also make an ideal stocking filler for family and friends who want to know more about the kingdom.

“I’m fascinated by the long history of Bahrain and wanted to create something interesting that foreign visitors could take away as a souvenir to showcase the island,” said Chris Manners.

Entitled the Bahrain Activity Book for Kids, it contains games, puzzles, colouring pages, and a whole lot more.

The British businessman who lives in Manama with his wife Timmi and their two sons, Sasha, 12, and Tristan, seven, said: “I love Bahrain and the Bahraini people. It has always felt like home to me.

“There doesn’t appear to have been anything like this produced before and I thought it was time to try one! Everybody so far has loved it.

“I think it will make a fantastic Christmas present to take home – to show the folks back home something about where you now live. It will certainly make a great souvenir to give to someone who does not know much about Bahrain.”

The activity book is aimed at children aged from six to 11 and includes a colouring page featuring the animals at Al Areen Wildlife Park, a henna hand and a falcon, spot the difference of the coffee pots, a Bahrain Grand Prix dice game and tricky mazes to find the Tree of Life, as well as buried treasure hidden at Bahrain Fort.

The activity book costs BD3.500 from Jashanmals, Book Case and Words bookstore cafe.

It could be the start of a series of publications. “There are a few more planned and more ideas are in the pipeline,” Mr Manners added.
