Group chairman Farouk Almoayyed, along with board members Amal and Salwa Almoayyed, opened the new IT room at Al Sanabel Orphan Care Society in Busaiteen. It is fully stocked with the latest computers, touch-screens and projectors.

Amal Almoayyed, director of YK Almoayyedand Sons Group, said: “I visited the orphanage in Ramadan with my children to donate to the youngsters and take part in an initiative.

I was amazed at how organised the society was and how devoted its members were to the orphans. The Al Sanabel team is not just providing a service or doing a job, they truly care for each orphan registered at the society and would go out of their way for them. The energy is fantastic.

I was given a tour of the society and noticed there were a lot of empty rooms. I thought it would be extremely beneficial to make one into an IT facility. I believe it is important as the world today operates on computers and the internet, people seem to do everything on computers.

This room is set-up in a way to hold anyclass or course. The aim is for every individual using this room to learn and gain knowledge from it to better his or her position in the future. This could be the stepping stone that they need to build a career.

“We have provided the tools and now it’s upto them to continue on the path to education although it is also up to us tosupport our community in any way we know how. The orphanage is also in need of a library.”

Mrs Almoayyed is also hoping to bring in training providers to the society once-a-week for a year to tutor them oncomputer skills.

Mohammed Al Mudahki, the society’s managing director, was thrilled with the donation and enthusiastic about its positive outcome on the orphans.

He said: “I want to thank the generous Almoayyed family for this amazing contribution. It is not uncommon for this well-known family to lend a helping hand as they are always there for the Bahraini community.

“They have golden hearts. But the thanks don’t just come from me – they are from all the orphans that have been giventhis great opportunity to learn. I don’t think there is a room like this in Bahrain dedicated for the use of orphans.

“At our society, education is highly regarded. We make sure to provide tuition courses throughout the year, whetherin English language or computer skills. Since we did not have the facility forit, we would have to send our orphans to different institutes and workshops.

“We were even being approached by many teachers and professors offering their time and services to the orphans butwere just lacking the classroom and the equipment.

“Now anything is possible. We have everything available and can hold classes for all levels – from elementary to university.”

The Al Sanabel Orphan Care Society has been operating in Bahrain for 13 years, lending orphans a helping hand with their educational, social and entertainment needs.

There are around 900 orphaned boys andgirls, from new-borns to university students, registered.

The society has helped a number of families by assisting with school tuition fees, purchasing household appliances and taking the orphans on fun days out.

Depending on the family’s situation the monthly amount could be up to BD60 per orphan.
