A few weeks ago, beloved animated Family Guy character, Brian the dog, was killed off from the show leaving behind many disgruntled viewers, as reported in TV Weekly.
He was even replaced by an Italian pup named Vinny and voiced by Sopranos star Tony Sirico. A wave of tweets from fans appeared voicing their objection and sadness to Brian’s demise. Well, it seems the creator, Seth MacFarlane, felt the same way because the furry white canine is back with a vengeance.
In the episode, Christmas Guy, Brian’s best friend, baby Stewie Griffin, started to miss him so much that he built a time machine to save him. He returns to the scene of the crime where, spoiler alert, Brian is about to be killed by a car. Stewie tackles and pushes Brian away thus saving his life.
After the show aired where both friends were reunited, McFarlane tweeted: “And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash.
Oh and hey... thanks for caring so much about the canine Griffin. He is overcome with gratitude.”
Fans have been flooding social networks and entertainment news sites with their thoughts.
Eevie, for example, is thrilled with Brian’s return. She said: “I guess I’ll be watching Family Guy again! Yay! I honestly LOVE the show but if they kept Brian dead, I wouldn’t have watched any new episodes. Thank goodness for reruns!
I’m so happy they brought Brian back! I knew Stewie would find a way! Great job for coming to your senses Seth.”
Other viewers believed it was always the creators plan and that he did not succumb to peer pressure.
Joe Crofts suggested: “An episode of Family Guy takes months to produce, so obviously everything was planned ahead and McFarlane didn’t just ‘give in’. It was just a pretty obvious publicity stunt that anyone with two IQ points to rub together would have noticed.”
Another fan said: “Seth’s had a bit of a history doing things like this, so I’m less surprised than I perhaps should be. It does look like Seth caved to public pressure which is perhaps a sign of just how popular the show is rather than an individual character.”
Family Guy airs on FX channel, OSN First Comedy HD and First Comedy+2 on Monday and Tuesday at different times.
