Irfan lifts second Volvo qualifier

Faraan Irfan narrowly won the second Volvo World Golf Challenge Bahrain Qualifier, held at the Royal Golf Club, with a stableford score of 38 points.

Madden Broadbent took the runners-up spot with 37 points on countback and Yousif Majid was third, also on 37 points. Nearest the pin side contests on holes 2 and 16 were won by Nigel Brough and Murray Brown, respectively, while a hole in one prize of a Volvo V40, sponsored by Kanoo Vehicle Leasing and AXA Insurance, went unclaimed on hole 16.

A field of 120 golfers took part in the competition which was played on the Royal Golf Club’s Mongomerie championship course in near perfect weather conditions.

A prize-giving ceremony was held in the Members’ Lounge.

There are now just four more qualification rounds left of the 2014 Bahrain Volvo World Golf Challenge. The eight successful qualifiers from each round will compete in a final round in December and the winners will fly off to the five day World Final in January at a location to be announced.
