Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain won three of the four events played for at the TFA Cubs tournament held in Saar during February and March.
The 14s completed a 100 per cent run to the final, only conceding one goal. They won their final 4-1 against Abu Sabaa Youth Club, with a goal from Ali Mattar and a hat-trick by Salem Hussein. Hussein was also named as player of the tournament.
The 10s also won every game in their competition, and completed their success with a 4-2 win in the final with a brace of goals apiece from Fergus Jolly and Abdulhadi Edelbi. There was a personal award for Maggie Stephens, who was not only the only girl in the tournament, but was named best player.
The 8s finished a great day for the Arsenal teams, when they beat TFA 4-3, to ensure that all three teams had perfect records in the event. Twins Elio and Anthony El Khouri both scored, along with a goal from Sami Awdi. Again, Arsenal boasted the only girl in the event – Sophie Moir who was brilliant throughout – and Elio and Matthias Guttierez were rewarded as the tournament’s best players.
Senior coach Deena Rahman said: “We are delighted with the way that our players played in this event. It was a long tournament, and to get through it winning every game in three sections is amazing. The boys and girls deserve their success though, as they worked hard and played some excellent football and scored some superb goals throughout.”
