Saint Patrick’s Day was celebrated in style at the Royal Golf Club with a special Irish-themed four player team event.

The team of Rob and Debbie Lane, Claus Hansen and Ben Elsworth narrowly clinched top spot with a score of 80 points, with a countback needed to separate them from the team of Peter Thompson, Warren Hill, Hilde Kwik and Naeem Khan, who also achieved a score of 80 points.

The competition format saw one score to count on the first six holes, two scores to count on the next six holes and three scores to count on the final six holes. In the side contests Todd Gillespie won a prize for coming nearest the pin in two shots on the 17th hole and the ‘Most Appropriately Dressed Person’ prize was jointly won by Peter Thompson and Barry Hobday.

“It was a great day, 100 golfers took part and the course was in fantastic shape,” said Jason Mejia, the Royal Golf Club’s tournament coordinator.
