Flowers normally bring on a smile, but in Bahrain City Centre last week there were more than sheepish grins when a teenage flower princess floated around the mall presenting shoppers with roses adorned with a surprise.

The crowd buzzed like bees around the storybook doll, who was on hand to promote the mall’s spring campaign. She was wearing a gorgeous pink tulle and satin dress fitted with tiny flowers and a matching crown. People were taking selfies and group photos with the glamorous garden girl to share with their family and friends.
“She looks like Rapunzel,” said nine-year-old Jaud who received a flower with a mall gift certificate tied to it. “I’m going to buy something at Monsoon because I love it there,” she added.
Mashal, nine, was also offered a flower before attending a movie at the cinema with his mother. When asked where he would spend his gift card, he said: “I will give it to my mum and she can buy a gift for herself because she can choose exactly what she wants.”
Amie Mariot, who played the role of flower girl, is a 17-year-old St Christopher’s School student who is originally from France but has lived here most of her life. She said people were ‘delighted’ when she stepped into their paths. Some of the gift vouchers awarded promoted the mall, the Wahooo! waterpark and the Michael Kors store.
